How Crime Was Publicly Advertised

When crimes occurred—especially jail escapes—details were often published in newspapers. These notices named the prisoners, described the escape, listed stolen county property, and offered cash rewards. The purpose was to enlist the public in capturing escapees and recovering lost items.
