An Indian Mound May Have Existed on Buffalo Creek

On the Otho Cline farm on Buffalo Creek there is a low rise in the meadow that Mamie Jones described as possibly being an Indian mound. To her, it appeared simply as a small hillock, but Pat McBrayer and others strongly believed that it had once been an Indian mound. Jones did not state that it had ever been excavated or proven, only that its appearance and location led several local people to believe it had been used by Indians in earlier times. She presented it as a local tradition and observation rather than a confirmed archaeological finding.
